Getting to Phuket International Airlines Domestic Airlines

Getting to Phuket
With two bridges connecting mainland Thailand to Phuket Island it is possible to drive from mainland Thailand to Phuket Island. For those with the time it is an interesting way to see more of Thailand.

By Bus
Both air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses have daily departures between Bangkok and Phuket. Contact the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok at telephone (02) 434-7192, or Phuket Central Bus Company at telephone (02) 435-5019 for more information.
Going from Phuket to Bangkok contact Phuket Bus Terminal at telephone (076) 211-480 for schedules and fares.

By Car
Whilst we don't imagine many tourist will rent a car it is possible to rent a car in Bangkok (or else where) and drive. South on Route 4 passing to Chumphon, west to Ranong. At Ranong head south again to the town of Kok Kloy then over one of the two bridges to Phuket Island. Of course there's a bit more to it than that but that's the idea. Distance would be anywhere from 875-900 km depending from where you begin in Bangkok.

By Air
Getting to Phuket is quite easy and with its growing popularity more and more discount airlines are flying to Phuket International Airport (HKT). Although many airlines now fly non-stop direct to Phuket from Europe, Singapore and Hong Kong the majority of travelers to Phuket transit through Bangkok.

That said, Thailand's national carrier, Thai Airways International (TG) offers several nonstop daily flights to and from Bangkok. TG also flies once daily nonstop to and from Chiang Mai. Internationally TG flies non-stop between Phuket and Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei and Frankfurt.

Dragonair (KA ) offers direct flights from Hong Kong.

Singapore Airlines (SQ) and its regional carrier Silk Air (MI) operate daily nonstop flights from Singapore.

Lauda Air (NG) has flights from Vienna via Bangkok.

Below is summary of the arline options currently available (this information is provided only to give you an idea of the options available - be advised that scheduled services may change without notice).

By Sea
Luxury liners from around the world occasionally stop in Phuket as part of their cruises to the region. The SuperStar Gemini from Singapore docks at the island once weekly.
