Getting Around

Getting around Phuket is easy enough. And walking around Patong, Karon and Kata is quite safe at night. Sidewalks are for the most part in good repair however some spots can be uneven. When out on the street comfortable shoes with flat soles are better than sandals or high heels. As well if you visit a rainforest, park or do any hiking do wear sturdy shoes with a closed top.
Be advised that traffic is on the left so always look to your right before crossing the street. There are plenty of maps available with most hotels, shopping areas tourist attractions and popular restaurants clearly marked. Whilst you'd be hard pressed to get lost it's still best to keep one handy.
