Chalong Bay / Rawai is located on the Southeastern side of Phuket.
Still mostly a fishing village there is a good stretch of beach
however the water is deep and muddy in making it unsuitable for
swimming or water sports. Chalong Rawai is Phuket's largest bay
and with its deep water just off shore this is where the main pier
and departure point for public and charter boats going to the islands
is located.
A quiet, sleepy village with many traditional restaurants selling
delicious freshly grilled seafood that can be enjoyed under the
huts or on mats under the trees on the beach. Whilst here are a
few local bars and shops in the area most visitors opt to go to
Kata which is just a few minutes away by car or motorcycle. FYI,
in order to remain objective, hotels are listed in alphabetical
order. We don't favor any hotel for any reason.
